Orencia (Abatacept) — It is infused in 25 – 30 minutes and also available as a self-administered injection weekly.
Orencia® is used to treat patients with moderate to severe RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) and may be administered by itself or with other disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs). Orencia is a protein that blocks signals needed to activate T-cells of the immune system, which play an important role in the development of rheumatoid arthritis. Orencia is approved to reduce the symptoms and stop the progression of RA in patients not helped by methotrexate or other biologics. It can be taken alone or with other medications except biologics. The doctors at AOA have extensive experience with Orencia and other RA treatments and will administer and monitor your progress during your therapy.
