Treatment for Ankylosing Spondylitis
Ankylosing Spondylitits (also known as AS) is a form of arthritis usually affecting the back or spine, causing lower back problems. Joints and ligaments become inflamed (causing pain and stiffness) and the disease may cause joints and bones to fuse together, resulting in inflexibility and rigidity. People with AS often wake in the night with pain in their back and may feel very stiff in the morning. AS is a systemic disease and it may affect other body organs even inflammation of the eye. The team at AOA can offer Ankylosing Spondylitits treatment through NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin and ibuprofen) or DMARDs (disease modifying drugs such as Methotrexate and biological agents) and help you manage the disease through exercise, physical therapy and behavior modification.
